The Big Hits from 2006

Here are my most read articles from 2006:

  1. The Next Wave in Productivity Tools - Web Office
  2. Micromanagement
  3. Lotus Notes - The Asbestos of Enterprise IT
  4. Email is critical to Enterprise 2.0 and Office 2.0
  5. Captain AGILE and FUBAR - Listening ain’t easy
  6. How to start a good business blog
  7. Apple Vs PC - Part II

#5 and #7 are both cartoons. Go figure. The Next Wave white paper was viewed over 16,000 times as an HTML article and downloaded almost 4,000 times as a pdf.

2006 - In Review

I got the idea of looking up my top articles in 2006 from Dion Hinchcliffe who has a great article today entitled Enterprise 2.0 year in review. It is certainly worth reading.

One of the articles Hinchcliffe’s points to is a Top 10 Management Fears About Enterprise Web 2.0 article by Jerry Bowles. You might be in my response, which explained that most of CTO/CIO fears about Enterprise Web 2.0 are unfounded .

The interesting thing about Hinchcliffe’s article is that it focuses on Enterprise 2.0 technology that helps knowledge workers to share text based information. So far, Enterprise 2.0 has really only been about tools such as blogs and wikis. That is going to quickly change in two ways within the Enterprise. First, consumer class one-to-many blogs are going to be replaced by enterprise class activity centric blogging/CMS systems such as Blogtronix and iUpload, while wikis are going to be complemented by task coordination tools such as itensil. Second, a huge new wave in productivity enhancing tools is just starting to build. These new tools will help end users to build their own highly customized applications. Teqlo is a great example of that.

Hey Rod, don’t go all ‘flacky’ on us -:)

Mmmm Rod, it’s interesting how you never referred back to your survey on Notes vs. Outlook vs. Web 2.0 Email… ( http://www.innovationcreators.com/2006/09/550_votes_counted_74_of_users.html ). Perhaps you didn’t meet with the answer you were looking for?

Or perhaps the survey (and the Asbestos post that you mention above) just did what you were after all along and netted you the page hits and thus the notoriety that led to the new job?

If so, that’s a fairly damning statement on where the Web2.0 blogging/wiki revolution is leading us… Make enough biased and incorrect statements on one issue and you’ll go far.

Is a plug for Teqlo going to be a staple of every post from now on? ;-)

    Hi Stuart,

I’ll throw up a post about the email question. Let’s see if the numbers start to match what the market appears to be doing.
