Open Source Catoons - Creative Commons - Help with Translation

I was delighted to see that copies of my first Agile cartoon appeared on non-English sites.

I am officially switching this blog over to a creative commons license, with this cartoon included. The specific license is Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License

The cartoons were created using the open source tool Inkscape. Inkscape is really easy to learn and use. Inkscape works on Windows, Linux and Mac.

If you would like to do a translation of the cartoon, here’s the Captain Agile and FUBAR SVG source file.

Just double click on the text and type away. The only thing I ask is that you link back to this site. If you could email me a SVG of the translation, I would be very grateful. I’d like to start a little collection.

Agile Development and Innovation

The Agile approach to software development can be thought of as a new approach to innovation.

Agile developers talk to their clients. They make constant small improvements. Their ideas and inventions have practical end use. Their ideas and inventions are innovations because there is an immediate and direct benefit derived from those ideas and inventions.

If you would like to find out more, check out the Agile Alliance, and their Carnival of the Agilists.

Many thanks to Pete Behrens, who runs Trail Ridge Consulting’s Aglie Blog.

Foo-Bar and FUBAR

The character FUBAR was inspired by the seminal Canadian film director Michael Dowse, and his inspiring documentary.

Hahaha…hilarious, Rod. My favorite line in the cartoon is “Dude, you’re wearing spandex”!

Anyway, the overall message of the cartoon reminded me of a recent blog that I published, quoting Jason Fried (37singnals) from his recent interview on the Business Jive podcast.

Here’s how it starts off “…You can’t make decisions about things when you don’t have a lot of information and the time you don’t have a lot of information, is the time when you get started—that’s the point when you have the least amount of information about something.”

Here’s the rest of my post:

    Glad you liked the cartoon.

That’s a great post. The link to Jason’s 13 minute Less is More presentation should be mandatory listening for anyone and everyone in IT.
