IBM Lotus software revenues up 30%
As Richard Schwartz pointed out this morning, Lotus Notes had a good year in 2006. Here’s a quote directly from IBM’s 2006 fourth quarter earnings announcement:
revenues for Lotus software, which allows collaborating and messaging by customers in real-time communication and knowledge management, increased 30 percent year over year.
Success in the market is what counts - not blogger commentary. How do you think they will do in 2007?

I think that IBM and the software division in particular will perform about the same as this year (30% YoY)
I think that they will see new customers and have a very low attrition of existing customers.
If IBM creates an Express offering (and hopefully in an appliance form) of their Sametime Gateway and Sametime in general, I know that my company will plunk down the cash and buy it. Of course we will continue with our existing Notes/Domino/LEI maintenance.
Rod,
Don’t forget the nine software acquisitions IBM made in 2006, several of which account for Lotus growth.
J
Jason, actually, there weren’t any acquisitions tied to Lotus during 2006.
Although IBM don’t normally report on the growth of individual products, they specifically reported a 30% growth in the Lotus Notes software product at the opening session of their annual Lotusphere conference yesterday.
So the growth can’t be attributed to other software products or new aquisitions over the last year.
